The Role
The Chemical Repackaging Lead will play a critical role in launching and operating a new liquid chemical repackaging capability for one of the world’s largest chemical distributors. This individual will serve as the on-the-floor lead for the repackaging operation, responsible for executing production safely, accurately, and efficiently while helping to establish best practices, standard operating procedures, and quality standards for a brand-new process within our facility.

The Role
The Chemical Repackaging Lead will play a critical role in launching and operating a new liquid chemical repackaging capability for one of the world’s largest chemical distributors. This individual will serve as the on-the-floor lead for the repackaging operation, responsible for executing production safely, accurately, and efficiently while helping to establish best practices, standard operating procedures, and quality standards for a brand-new process within our facility.
This role combines hands-on equipment operation with process ownership. The Lead Operator will oversee the transfer of chemicals from bulk totes into smaller containers (pails and other packaging), ensure strict compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and act as the first line of troubleshooting for equipment and process issues. As the subject matter expert for the repackaging line, this person will partner closely with engineering, operations, and safety teams to continuously improve throughput, reduce waste, and maintain product integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate semi-automated or automated filling equipment for liquids or solids
- Set-up, adjust and troubleshoot machinery to maintain correct fill weights and flow rates.
- Read and follow production orders. GHS labels and batch instructions to ensure correct product, container and label match.
- Perform sealing, labeling and packaging according to customer or regulatory specifications.
- Record production data such as lot numbers, quantities and equipment settings.
- Follow chemical safety procedures including PPE use, spill response and safe material transfer.
- Understand SDS, GHS labeling and hazard classes.
- Operate within OSHA and facility safety rules like LOTO, Hazcom etc.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas to prevent cross-contamination.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of relevant experience operating machinery or working in a chemical, manufacturing, or process-driven environment.
- Forklift operating experience, including safely moving raw materials and finished goods within a warehouse or production setting.
- Prior experience in chemical manufacturing, blending, filling, or packaging operations is strongly preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive work, including lifting and moving containers and standing for extended periods during production runs.
- Mechanical aptitude, with the ability to operate and make basic adjustments to pumps, valves, scales, and filling or packaging equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow instructions precisely and identify discrepancies in product, labeling, or packaging.
- Basic math and measurement skills, including the ability to work with weights, volumes, and standard unit conversions.
- Ability to monitor and respond to process variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates to maintain safe and accurate production.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify equipment issues, process deviations, or packaging defects and take corrective action.
